‘It’s still not easy’: Actor David Harewood on his family’s slave history

Actor David Harewood visited Harewood House near Leeds, the stately home of the Lascelles family, to see his portrait, which the current earl has commissioned.

But, as the actor explains to the BBC’s culture editor Katie Razzall, it is not easy being in the house which was built with profits from the slave trade, especially as his ancestor was once “owned” by the Lascelles family.
