The European Commission’s vice president has told the COP26 climate conference that the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5C is to make sure future generations don’t face an “unliveable” environment.

Referring to his one-year-old grandson, Frans Timmermans said that if the conference fails to address climate change now, then his grandson will have to “fight with other human beings for water and food.”
